As usual, I got up at 5 a.m., took a bath, and said my daily prayers. I hurriedly cooked, but it turned out to be delicious. Meanwhile, I managed to pack my bags and reach my school to teach as on any other working day.
There was nothing new. It was as regular as any other working day. It was Monday and I was not in a hurry to finish my teaching for the day, as we had enough time. I decided to take it easy and gave some writing work to my students to enhance their creative writing skills, which they happily did. As a language teacher, it’s my duty to teach them how to write or construct something systematically. I teach Hindi in a non-Hindi speaking state, and children face many difficulties in learning a new language.
When I collected their answers, to my surprise, most of them were able to skillfully write the given task. It was a joyous moment to see such a significant change in my students’ behavior and to see them learn and grow.
When I went to another class, a few students suggested that I raise the difficulty level. It was a pleasant surprise to see my students eager to learn more. Their enthusiasm and willingness to improve day by day made my day. This moment gave me satisfaction as a successful teacher. I don’t expect great rewards, but when a child comes forward and says “your subject has become easy for me now,” those words become a reward for me.
So, even though it was a regular, typical day, it became a special day filled with hope and joy. I recalled my prayers from today at this moment, which I recite each day at dawn. I believe in doing my duties faithfully, without many expectations.
