THIS THOUGHT OF BEING ‘A DROP IN THE OCEAN’ HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE

In a world often filled with noise, ego, and self-centeredness, people are suffering in different ways. They hurt others and feel satisfied by hurting others emotions too. It’s a kind of trap which doesn’t allow us to come out of it. We pass our ego, our bad intensions to the next person we know. And it goes on and on…. There is no end of it. Finally it lands up on us only as the world works on the law of Karma. ‘What we sow , we reap in plenty’. I feel pity on this.

We are here in this world for limited time . If I just imagine about the universe , I feel we are not even like a dot. Our existence is negligible. Imagine standing on the shore, gazing out at the immense expanse of the ocean. As you watch the waves crash and the tides ebb and flow, it becomes abundantly clear that you are but a tiny, inconsequential drop within this vast body of water. In this contemplative moment, the ego retreats, and a sense of humility takes its place.

This thought or metaphor of being a “being a drop in the ocean” have changed my life . It carries profound wisdom. This profound realization serves as a powerful reminder of our own insignificance in the face of the vast universe, prompting us to lead lives imbued with humility and politeness.

Humility, in this context, does not mean self-deprecation or a lack of self-worth. Rather, it is a recognition that our existence is a small part of a much larger whole. It reminds us that the world does not revolve around us, and our actions have repercussions beyond our immediate awareness. Humility opens the door to empathy and understanding, as we become attuned to the needs and perspectives of others.

Politeness naturally flows from humility. When we understand that we are mere drops in the ocean, we become less inclined to assert ourselves aggressively or belittle others. Politeness is the manifestation of our respect for the humanity in others, regardless of their station in life. It involves treating people with kindness, consideration, and civility, irrespective of their background or beliefs.

One of the most beautiful aspects of being a “drop in the ocean” is the opportunity it provides for us to connect with others on a deeper level. When we recognize our shared insignificance in the grand scheme of things, we are more inclined to seek common ground, build bridges, and foster unity. Politeness becomes a bridge to understanding, allowing us to navigate the diverse currents of human interaction with grace. Humility and politeness are not signs of weakness; rather, they are signs of strength and wisdom.

In our daily lives, we can embody the spirit of being a “drop in the ocean” by practicing humility and politeness. This begins with self-awareness and self-reflection. It involves acknowledging our flaws and limitations while striving to become better versions of ourselves. It requires us to listen more than we speak, to seek understanding rather than domination, and to approach every interaction with a genuine desire to uplift and connect with others.

In conclusion, the simple yet profound realization that “I am a drop in the ocean” has changed my life and made me humble and polite. Hence I try to live my life with principle for leading a life of humility and politeness. It reminds me that I am a part of something much, much larger than my existence, prompting me to treat everyone with respect and kindness.

In a world that often celebrates self-importance, let us embrace the wisdom of the “drop in the ocean” and find strength in our humility and politeness. As we do so, we may discover that our actions, like ripples in the water, have the power to create positive waves that touch the lives of countless others.

  1. “A drop in the ocean
    A change in the weather
I was praying that you and me might end up together
It’s like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert
But I’m holding you closer than most
‘Cause you are my heaven…” – your post brought back memories of this song by Ron Pope. Beautiful piece👌
